I attended the University of New Orleans during the 2013 Spring Semester to complete the following graduate level course required to add Early Interventionist Birth through Kindergarten certification to my Louisiana teaching certificate: EDSP 6555 Disabilities in Childhood Early Intervening Programs/ Curriculum and Methods for Young Children with Disabilities and their Families (3 credits equaling 45 clock hours). This course focused on selecting and developing curricula and materials for planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions with children from birth to five years old who either have a disability or are at-risk for having a disability. I was required to develop four lesson plans, create a learning center and implement that center with children, conduct a task analysis, develop an environment project, complete a learning style inventory, and participate in class discussions and activities.
