I completed the following graduate level class at the University of New Orleans during the 2012 Summer semester to add Early Interventionist Birth through Kindergarten certification to my Louisiana teaching certificate: EDSP 6090 Family and Community Partnership/Family and Community Involvement in Education of Individuals with Disabilities (3 credits equaling 45 clock hours). This course focused on family systems and the application of services and supports for families of young children with disabilities. I was required to complete a family genogram, write a detailed response to information presented by a panel of members who have a child with a disability in their family, develop an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for a particular scenario, and take a comprehension final examination.
