Selecting Evidence-Based Tools and Programs for Implementing RTI by Dr. Allison Gandhi. The essential components, Universal Screening, Progress Monitoring, and Tiered Instruction were discussed. Universal Screening should be utilized to identify students at risk. It should be brief, valid, and reliable, and completed 1-3 times per year. Progress Monitoring helps inform instruction. Tools used need to be evidence-based and relevant to the students needs. A tools chart is available on the National Center for Response to Intervention.
